INCANTARE TALKS are live, audience-participatory sessions where we talk about music, violins, sackbuts, historical performance, music history, and what we do! We’ll chat, play some videos, answer your questions, and maybe even tell some interesting gig stories. Sessions are 40 minutes in length with 10 minutes for questions and discussion. Session 1, “The Origin Story,” is exactly what it sounds like — the story of our ensemble! How did the group form? How do we decide what kind of music to play? How do we rehearse, make programs, and perform? Where did we all come from and why do sackbuts, violins, and continuo make such a great combination?*
