INCANTARE TALKS Session 2: What is HIP? Historical Performance in a Postmodern World

Incantare is excited to bring you Session 2 of INCANTARE TALKS this December! Introducing our newest topic, inspired by your questions and feedback:

What is HIP? Historical Performance in a Post-Modern World

Incantare uses historically informed performance (HIP) to make our concerts unique. But what exactly is historical performance? How do we apply this practice to our ensemble of violins, sackbuts, and continuo? Why and how is HIP relevant in today’s classical music scene, and why is this important in a societal context? Join us for our second installment of INCANTARE TALKS, where we answer these questions and even more that you didn’t know you had!

What is INCANTARE TALKS?

INCANTARE TALKS a new series of live monthly Zoom sessions inspired by YOU. The past two years of performances, masterclasses, presentations, and workshops has given us the opportunity to get to know our audiences throughout the country, and we have been inspired by a wealth of wonderful questions. However, while we love these traditional means of musical connection, it's rare that we actually get to sit down with our audience and chat at length.

INCANTARE TALKS gives us the opportunity to do just that! Join us for interactive discussions about music, violins, sackbuts, historical performance, music history, and what we do! We’ll chat, play some music videos, answer your questions, and maybe even tell some interesting gig stories. Sessions are approximately 50 minutes in length. Join us monthly as part of our live Zoom audience or tune in on Youtube to follow along. We can't wait to see you in December!
